Let’s talk about the California Republican Party Convention. I used to live in Burlingame and Bob, in San Mateo and Millbrae, so it was fun to go back to the Bay Area and visit friends, especially my God son’s Mom and Dad. And, it was St. Patty’s Day. No Chicagoan, no matter where they live now, can pass up a chance for a St. Patty’s Day Dinner. Always a grand excuse to party! Great!
Bob and I were outnumbered around that St Patty’s dinner table. 4 Democrats, us and one more Republican. However, everyone, whether Democrat or Republican, agreed on one thing! It is time for a CA Voter ID! Everyone is signing THE COMMON SENSE VOTING ACT, Guard My Vote petition. Have you? Go to: guardmyvote.com Get active! Make it happen! If not you, then who?
Back to the CRP convention. It was boring, yes, boring. The only excitement came, from the CA Tea Party Caucus. Catherine Engelbrecht of True the Vote was their keynote speaker. They are alive. They are animated. They are the REBELS of the Republican Party. They are the activists of the Republican Party. So, why can’t the Republican leaders see this? Why can’t everyone join together and work together? Open up that BIG TENT, Republican Party. The Big Tent that you are always talking about! Is there really a big tent, Boys and Girls? It is no wonder to me that the Hispanics, Asians and Blacks don’t join the Republican Party easily. The Republican Party can’t even accept their own Republicans into that Big Tent.
If the establishment Republicans would welcome the Tea Party into the Big Tent, there is no limit to the success that a united Republican Party would have.
Don’t all Republicans believe in the Tea Party ideals of no more bailouts, reduce the size and the intrusiveness of government, stop raising our taxes, repeal Obamacare, cease the out-of-control spending and bring back American prosperity?
How many of you agree with these points? If you say, “Yes”, then you are a Republican, no matter where you are on the conservative scale. Why the divide, if we all stand for these Republican principles?
I really do not understand. I am a Republican, who believes in the above principles, so am I a Republican or am I in the Tea Party? I think I am BOTH! Why not both?
The Democrats have learned to work together and to not air their dirty laundry in public or to the lame stream media. I am sure that they fight amongst themselves, but when it is time for the election, they are UNITED!! Sadly, Republicans fight with each other, instead of fighting the enemy, the Democrats.
“If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.” Henry Ford (1863-1947), American founder of the Ford Motor Company. (Others are also credited with this quote.) I use a variation of this quote to end my radio show
My advice to the GOP and the CRP: Try something new! Let the Tea Party into the Republican Big Tent! Quickly!
